Book Review for The Debutante’s Code–A Family’s Legacy at the Breaking Point
There’s a new spy in town in The Debutante’s Code!
Lady Juliette Thorndike completed finishing school and is ready for her debut into London society. Mostly, she’s excited for the chance to share her next adventures with her parents, who have always been tender toward her but also absent at times. What she hopes will be a celebrated reunion turns disastrous when they disappear from London before she arrives. Instead, they’ve left her debut season (an immencely important time for a Regency Era lady) in the hands of her uncle—who’s known for his drinking more than his paternal care. When Lady Juliette begins to suspect that her parents’ impromptu trip to their country manor might be a cover for something more sinister, she realizes that her parents have been preparing her for this threat her entire life. Now, she might be the only person who can uncover the threat against her family and the Crown. But can she eliminate it on her own?
Unfortunately, Bow Street investigator, Daniel Swann, is following clues from an art heist that are leading him directly to Lady Juliette’s door, and he’s complicating her attempts to save her family. When her own home is vandalized, he must discover if she is a mastermind or a victim. If he chooses incorrectly, her life might hang in the balance. Were this all he faced, he could confidently work through the clues of each theft, but when his mysterious benefactor also demands that he appear at certain events, his private life begins to threaten his professional one. He’ll have to get creative if he wants to successfully solve these crimes before time runs out.
